Sweet summer where did you go?!?!

Wow this summer has gone by so fast!  It’s been so busy we had my baby niece’s birthday party, my cousin’s baby shower, and another cousin’s wedding…like I said busy!  In that busy time I got to go to Disney World for the first time in my life!  Talk about a “Dream Come True, it was truly amazing.  Best of all I got to go with my family.  I’m a very proud and busy “Tia” (aunt) I love every second I get to spend with those little monsters.  Here are a few pics of our Disney Trip!

OMG!!! The feeling when we got there was surreal yes I'm almost 32 years old, but when I was in Disney I was only 5 again, lol!  In the first picture I am with my brother and Destanni my sister's little one getting out tickets at will call. Yes that's Cinderella's Castle and me happy as can be at the "Happiest Place on Earth!"

 

Next is me and my adorable niece Addy after we rode the Dumbo ride.  We decided to pretend to fly with Dumbo for our picture.  Afterwards we went to The Teacups!  Even the little ones rode!    The one in the purple is my sis I'm holding Destanni and Addy my nieces and flower shirt is Arika holding my youngest niece Ava.  They started out scared, but soon started giggling with us.  The four kids in the bottom right picture are my nieces and nephew...the loves of my life, anyone who knows me will tell you there is absolutely nothing I wouldn't do for them!  One problem...it's almost impossible to get them to take a good picture of them together.

Now the reason we all went on this trip was for my Mom, nephew Aaron, and Little sis Selena's dance company.  They dance "ballet folklorico," all of the dances they do are from various regions in Mexico.  It was my beautiful momma's first recital and she was SOOOOO nervous to say the least.  Selena always looks so breathtaking in her costumes and makeup!  My nephew Aaron got to be a fighting rooster for his dance, yes cruel in real life, but like I said traditional Mexican dances, he and his opponent had the crowd laughing and having a great time.  I was so proud of all of them they did amazing.

    

Last but not least I got to Universal Studios Orlando where I got to go to...The Magical World of Harry Potter!!!  It was amazing unfortunately for this blog entry the pics are on my home computer so I'll have to add those for you later!  It was so AWESOME!!!  Here is the one pic I do have with me.  It's silly but I still think its cool.  I'm wearing my Wonder Woman shirt!

Like the picture above this summer has just flown away!!!  Sandra and I did manage to get some work done for our classroom and TPT store!  We made a new student alphabet and complete word wall packet in both English and Spanish! I'm having trouble uploading the pictures, but you can click HERE to go to our TPT store.

End of the school year, my birthday...and CABO!!

Hey friends!!! I've been soooo busy enjoying my vacation that I forget we have a blog. Excuses, excuses!! I know we haven't blogged since March so I thought I'd share some of the things we do at the End of the Year and also my quick mini vacation to Cabo, San Lucas where I was a beach bum for 5 days. But first here's a picture of Cindy on the last day of school...someone is super excited about summer break!! I LOVE this picture!!

  

This is a bulletin board one of my awesome coworkers made that I think turned out really cute. The kiddos made self portraits and it was glued next to their picture. Sooo cute!!

 

Our class made a TLC grad picture (it was a free download) and then we put their photo on it. They turned out so cute and were really easy to make.

My birthday is June 4th and I love celebrating my birthday. It was kind of hectic since it was the last week of school, but I still managed to have an awesome time. We just had a drive-in movie theater open up in our city and I was super excited about having my party there. I haven't been to the drive-in in FOREVER!!! It was soooo cool watching a movie (or 2) under the stars. I had the best time, and my cake turned out Fabulous!! Thanks Deanna!!

Last week I went to Cabo, San Lucas with some friends and my mom. I had the BEST time doing nothing and relaxing by the beach and the pool. In 3 weeks I will be heading to Peru and that vacation will NOT be relaxing. If anyone has been and would like to offer some tips that would be great. I'm starting to worry that I might DIE on Machu Pichu!!

Oviparous Animals!

Hello everybody!  Sandra touched on the fact that we are learning about oviparous animals this week by sharing her oviparous list and my circle map.  We did a guess the oviparous animal writing activity.  The kids had to choose an animal from our graphic organizers or another one that they saw in the book.  We made a bubble map during our morning message to give our kiddos an example.

They then chose an oviparous animal and made their own bubble map.  They did great!  Here are a couple of examples.

 Sandra made this really cute egg page it says, "Guess who's inside the egg?"  The kids used their bubble map write a description of the animal they chose on the first egg, then they drew the animal on the second egg.  We added a brad to the top of the page so that visitors can read the riddle then try to guess the animal.  This is always a lot of fun!

Spring is in the Air!!

Hey Strangers!! We have had radio silence since February...we know we kinda suck!! We apoligize, but (here come the excuses lol) I am in charge of the school wide chocolate sale and Cindy is in charge of a Heart Healthy Walk and a Hop-A-Thon! We have been just a little bit frazzled!! But we are ready to start blogging again!!

Here are a few things that we have been doing in our classrooms. We did an Eric Carle book study! We started with a circle map to see what the kiddos knew about Eric Carle...which was NOTHING!

Then we read several books a day and had the kiddos do a book critique on each book. If you would like a copy of the book critique click here.

For the Very Hungry Caterpillar we had the kiddos complete a page that lists what the caterpillar ate each day in sequential order click here if you would like that one too.

Cindy also had her students make this super simple caterpillar craft that we saw on pinterest.

At the end of the book study my kiddos had to write three things they learned about Eric Carle and draw his potrait. They came out awesome!

 One of our amazing co-workers made this awesome foldable book with her class. She is a first year teacher and she's doing fabulous!! The books turned out so great!

This week we are starting our Oviparous unit! I absolutely love this unit! I wanted to know if they knew any animals that are oviparous prior to reading Chickens Aren't the Only Ones and they really suprised me by how many oviparous animals they were able to name. We made a list of the animals they named and then we read the book. We then used the list during writing and they wrote a list of where oviparous animals lay their eggs.

Tomorrow we will add some animals that are in the book that we didn't list and use the list to create Guess whose in the egg activity.

Who doesn't like getting Warm Fuzzys?!

Hey ladies just some quick and very awesome information to share with all of you!  We have a Valentine's Day gift for all of our blog followers!  We are are going to share our $3.00 on TPT "Warm Fuzzys" Valentine's Day Centers with you.  We have a dual language version with the language arts games in Spanish and a regular program version with the language arts games in English.  The math games are the same on both.  Enjoy!

Penguin Invasion!

Hello friends!  I just wanted to take the time to share one of our very favorite units...Penguins!  There's so awkward and cute and sooo interesting.  Like in most of our thematic units we start off with some kind of graphic organizer.  We made a KWL chart in the shape of a penguin!  Here is the one Sandra made.  I love it!

Our writing focus for the week is beginning poetry.  The students had to describe an object so we decided to describe a penguin.  First, we made a bubble map to organize our thoughts and write down our descriptive words.

Next, we used the words from the circle maps to write a diamante poem.  It has a noun, 2 adjectives, 3 verbs, 2 adjectives, and the noun again.  I used Microsoft Word and a cute penguin coloring page to make the paper they used for their poem. I was planning to attach it, but unfortunately I left my flash drive at work.  Here is what it looked like.

The kids did a really awesome job on it.  My more advanced writers had fun and were able to come up with different words.  My struggling writers had the bubble map for support and were all very proud of the end product.  Another penguin activity we did was an easy sequencing foldable book.  I got this activity from The Mailbox Magazine, I just translated the labels that went with the pictures and scanned the sheet so that I could save it.  It has a simple explanation of the life cycle of the penguin.

Sandra and I both love to do cut paper activities.  I had a penguin cut paper activity that I found online, but I have no idea where I left it or where to find it lol.  So I made my own smaller version of this activity.  I'll post the sizes of paper and instructions when I add the penguin freebies.  Here's an example of my little penguin.  I used trail and error to find the sizes.



 The last activity that we make during our penguin unit is an all about penguins book.  I really like the way Sandra's came out.  She had a diagram in it and each page had a topic.  It seemed to help the students really focus what they learned.  Her kids did really good and their books look great!
